My name name is Janelle. You can call me to “The Primal Burgher”. Welcome to my blog! In case you haven’t visited my “About Me” page, please take some time to read it. I know it’s long and extensive, but if you want to get to know me and know why I started this blog in the first place, please read that page. OK! Time to move on. This is my first post and I have a lot to cover!
This blog is dedicated to Primal Living in the City of Pittsburgh. What is “Primal Living” you may ask? A primal lifestyle is a way of eating and exercising based on the way we humans are biologically designed to eat and exercise. As for the diet portion, I stick with local organic produce, grass fed meats, wile caught seafood and an abundance of nuts, seeds, coconut products n’at (note: if you end of following this blog, you’re going to get a hefty dose of Pittsburghese. It’s the dialect you’ll hear if you’re ever in this city. All my bizarre abbreviations will highlight this strange variation of English we have here in Western PA. More on this later!). For more information on the dietary aspects of this way of living, please visit the following websites:

As for the exercise portion, a primal lifestyle is all about easy cardio (walking, hiking, biking, etc) and short bursts of high intensity exercise. For me, I am currently training for my Hard Style Russian Kettlebell Certificaiton sponsored by Dragon Door. I am currently training under a Russian Kettlebell Instructor in Pittsburgh. My exercise routines are based off of high intensity interval training with some increasingly heavy kettlebells. For more information on Russian Kettlebells, please visit the following websites:

So let’s talk Pittsburgh. I wanted to start a blog about living primally in Pittsburgh because a.) I live in Pittsburgh and b.) Pittsburgh has some AMAZING food finds that continue to amaze me in terms of the quality of the food and the price at which it is sold. I’m talking affordability here people! Don’t ever think switching your eating habits can be overly expensive. In fact, often times it can be just the opposite! I’ll be your guide through this city as we check out some primal food finds for a steal of a deal. And that’s real talk, ya heard? (again, Pittsburghese. Did you catch that? AWESOME! You’re learning!)
I have yet to post some links in my “Primal Finds in Pittsburgh” page only because I have yet to go shopping. The good news? I AM GOING FOOD SHOPPING TOMORROW! I will let you know how my food spending breaks down and where I went shopping.
Stay tuned for video updates, witty blog posts, fun work outs and Pittsburgh foodie finds. Thanks for stopping by! Catch yinz guys later!
