At Midnight tonight, the ball drops and we enter into a new year. While many of us have our eyes set on New Years resolutions to lose weight, eat better, and all such things related to health, I have decided to take my life and my training a bit more seriously as well. I have decided that this year will be geared towards more eating smart, training hard, and enjoying my life in the meantime as I travel around the States meeting up with some of the best kettlebell trainers in the industry (yep, I’m still traveling around like crazy! LOVE IT!). This year, you will see primalburgher.com transform into something more instructional as I will be documenting my progress up until RKC Vienna. I will still be my quirky little Burgher self, but I am also shifting gears into a serious profession here. With all the training I am doing and with all the work I am putting into my certification, I will be revealing exactly how I am preparing for RKC Vienna. Get ready for some serious workouts and some serious nutrition! And that’s real talk, a heard?
This year is the year of my RKC. I am now officially 4 months away from the date of my certification in April, and over the past month my training has been amazing. I have networked with a few more amazing kettlebell instructors who have taken my current training protocol and made it slightly more demanding to prep for the cert. I am still doing Geoff Neuperts kettlebell burn, but I have some added complexes for strength right now due to some personal goals I now have for April. I know a lot of you are curious about my goals, so here they are out there for yinz to see.
1. Stress less and eradicate any nervousness in my Burgher brain. This is a big one for me, which is why it is goal number one. I had what most people call “the pre RKC panic attack” as I looked at my calendar the other day and realized April really isn’t that far away. Not to mention the fact that the holidays got me all worked up as well. I put in a lot of hours at work, ate a bit too much and woke up one day with a nasty flu. Say what you want about it being the holidays, but looks like I got too stressed out too quickly and my body shut down because of it. Stress is a bugger for me, and I will be working on that aspect of my life accordingly starting now!
2. Train harder and smarter. I received a neat little tip from a really awesome RKC trainer recently who told me that to making my prep work for the certification more difficult will work to my advantage. The Russian Kettlebell challenge is no joke, and the three day long weekend will be filled with hard workouts that will test every inch of my sanity, let alone my body. I will be doing some demanding complexes and what I call iron extra credit workouts to condition my strength and endurance accordingly. Be on the look out for those said murderous workouts ๐
3. Eat real food. Confession, I wasn’t the most on the spot paleo girl over the holiday. I realize this is normal at this time of year, but time to set it all aside and eat smart. Fueling my workouts now is top priority.
And as for something that I may call a “new years resolution”, I have decided to do something I have failed to do in the past. I have decided to be 100% upfront and brutally honest about who I am, where I was before my RKC dream, and what I intend to do after I have this certification in my hands. I used to hide behind my own wall of badassery only to have found myself in several humbling positions over the past few weeks. Strength training can go to your head sometimes, so what I have decided to do is to share with yinz more of who I am inside, and why I’m not just your average Burgher. The world needs more people to be open, to be transparent. And I will lay my cards out on the table for all yinz to see! ๐
With the New Year fast approaching, this blog will be having a bit of a make-over. No worries! It’s not going anywhere, but this blog will be a lot more focused on kettlebell training up until the point of April. I will be meeting up with some amazing trainers so get excited! It’s going to be a wild ride up until RKC Vienna! Follow me to my RKC!
Remember to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Love Always,
Janelle
