And if you have been following me this far, you know what this month is all about!
RKC Vienna is officially two weeks away. On April 18th, I will be traveling down to Vienna Virginia for arguably the most demanding three day certification process of my life. High volume lifting, comprehensive seminars, and not to mention a bunch of physical testing will happen at this certification. This is it folks! The time has come to turn this Primal Burgher into an RKC. And what better way to gear up for this event than wind down?
Wait….SAY WHAT!??!?
Due to the increasing demands of my workouts and because I had to put on some more mass to handle all my high volume training (see my last blog post on that) I have taken it upon myself to rest, unwind, and deload now, with two weeks out to the certification. Truth be told, I was dealing with some not so fun overtraining issues from my previous month of working out, and had I continued to train up to the intensity I was going for, I may have very well zonked out the week of RKC. This has been a very humbling lesson for me, and again, see my previous blog post if you want the run down on my being run down.
I have had a lot of time to reflect on myself lately since my training has been on the back burner. At first, there was a lot of pre-RKC anxiety since I have never really completed a challenge like this before. But, the positive me is now coming out. I have spent a considerable amount of time training, placed a ton of extra effort into gaining the business experience I will need to market myself as a trainer, and spent countless hours in and out of Pittsburgh Kettlebells going over the fundamentals of kettlebell lifts. I have co-taught classes alongside my trainer, made what seemed like 5,000 phone calls to fellow instructor friends who were kind enough to go over my training protocols. All along the journey,I met up with some amazing trainers, nutritionists, and all around awesome people who coached me up to this life changing event.
This is it. This is RKC! And you know something? I’m ready for it! It won’t be a walk in the park, but I’m ready for it!
April is the first full month of Spring. The season of spring is all about transformations and renewal. I could not have picked a better time to do my RKC than this month. I could not have picked a better season for the RKC. In one year, I was able to transform my life and become stronger than I ever thought possible. I am looking forward to meeting all the instructors at this certification and I am really looking forward to meeting the other RKC candidates in Vienna. I am looking forward to learning the best from the best in this amazing industry, and I am also looking forward to having those three letters, RKC, attached to my name. I will be transformed and renewed as a brand new instructor. This has been my dream all along, and it is finally coming true. YES!
Be on the look out this week for some exciting news about my upcoming certification and stay tuned for some ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EVENTS coming to you live from Pittsburgh Kettlebells (often referred to as my second home 😉 ) Thank you all for following me this far.
Vienna, Yinz ain’t seen nothing yet!
Remmeber to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Love Always,
Janelle Pica-HKC, CPT
