On a completely separate side note, I find it very fitting that someone who is known as the “Primal Burgher” is heading off to a Primal Move certification. Just saying!
I had a lot of questions from current clients of mine that were curious about what I currently pursuing in terms of my own fitness. Lately, I have been focusing on nothing but calisthenics meshed with some mild lifting. Something had always caught my attention though in terms of strength, and that has everything to do with the freedom of movement. Whether you need to master difficult body weight poses or iron out your military press, your mobility is essential to laying the foundations for your strength and stability. In my own experience, I have come across my own shortcomings with mobility and, having switched gears into full time training, I have spent more time going under fundamental movement patterns with my clients than anything else. If you want to move better, lift heavier, and just have more fun enjoying your life in general, Primal Move is for you!
But, I am sure a lot of you are asking yourself this: just what is this Primal Move thing anyway? Without getting into the neuroscience and bio mechanics of it all, here’s a great summary of the Primal Move certification process and how it can help you and your clients perform at their best!
Primal Move is a fun workshop that is designed to help enhance your movement skill through play-oriented activity. Benefits of this certification include (but are not limited to) better endurance, increased flexibility, pain reduction/remission, and overall increase in your lust for life ๐ The program was developed by Master RKC Peter Lakatos in order to ad the fun factor into functional movement (say that five times fast ๐ ) To quote Peter Lakatos himself, Primal Move is designed to “make changes through playful, beautiful and mindful movements. Through better movement you will be able to enjoy whatever you like doing in life. We want to show you the potential we all have in us, buried deep down. Our goal is to move better through the unique mixture of unloaded and loaded mobility exercises, strength and endurance practice, while aiming to better movement at all time. Moving more is not better. Moving stronger is not better. Moving faster is not better. Moving better is better, and we aim to move stronger, more and faster when we have already mastered better.” For more information on the breakdown of what primal move is, please read Dragon Door’s interview withe RKC Peter Lakatos here.
I was first introduced to Primal Move about 2 years ago while visiting friend, and RKC II instructor Adrienne Harvey. The drills we did (such as bear crawls, happy baby, etc) were so much fun I vowed to one day do this entire certification process myself. Well folks, that time has come! On October 13th I will be traveling to Cartersville Georgia for the October 13th Primal Move workshop! It will be hosted by Senior RKC Beth Andrews at Maximum Body Training and taught by none other than RKC II and Primal Move national instructor Adrienne Harvey herself. Can’t make it to GA? No problem! Check out these up and coming Primal Move Workshops for yourself and become a force of nature!
That’s all I have for you all today! Remember to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
