I don’t like to whine and complain. I am not the type of person who likes to stay in a negative mind set for more than a few seconds. Life is a beutiful gift we are given and we are to savor every moment of it, and that’s realy talk, ya heard? Alas, I must admit that this week was turning out to be quite a painful week due to an unfortunate mishap with my recent tattoo. And just to let you all know, the answer is no. It IS NOT INFECTED!
Moving right along, I want to give all you edgier types out there reading my blog a word of advice, and this is VITAL INFORMATION if you are training heavily as an athlete like myself. I had an excruciatingly painful experience this week with a touch up I had on my tattoo. Take a look at the pictures below to see what I am talking about here.
Ok, I don’t like admitting when I am in pain, but this was absolutely excruciating! My artist warned me not to use cocoa butter to soothe a brand new tattoo. What did I do? Use cocoa butter on my brand new tattoo. While cocoa butter generally keeps your skin smoothe and smelling pretty chocolately, it is THE WORST THING you can use on an open wound. I was at my parents house this weekend and had honestly forgotten to purchase some vitamin A and D ointment for my arm (which is THE BEST STUFF FOR TATTOOS EVER!). I then proceeded to do an interval kettlebell swing routine the day after having my tattoo inked. I did 30 seconds of swings followed by 30 seconds of rest for 20 minutes with a 16 kg kettlebell. I was able to iron out 415 swings in that time, but soon after, I wasn’t feeling too good.
And of course I added more cocoa butter.
After my third RKC training session this week, I was in serious pain. I supposed the scented oils in the coacoa butter I was using caused a reaction with my skin that was so extreme, my epidermis went into inflammatory overload. Also, all those swings actually cracked open the inking marks on my skin. The results? WILD AND VIOLENT PAIN! It took nearly two days and an INSANE amount of vitamin A and D ointment for my arm to feel better. I was not able to work out until today. I was in so much agony that I actually had a hard time driving my car and typing on my computer. NOT COOL! Friends, if you train with kettlebells, a word of advice. You have a few options when it comes to tattoos. Option A) DON’T GET A TATTOO ON YOUR ARM EVER! Option B). If you do get a tattoo on your arm, do it during a deload or off week and forget any upper body exercises for at least 3 to 5 days. I mean it!
Now, let’s talk about somthing absolutely fabulous that I came up with this week to help me cope with my pain as well as help a fellow Primal Burgher. My good friend Aly sent me a text message today regarding a desperate dessert situation. Here’s what popped up the old iPhone today.
My reponse was defiantely not the best at the time, but I soon was able to persuade my poor and very tempted friend to grab a Larabar instead of the cake. Hey, if you have a craving, I am not saying you can’t indulge it. You just have to be SMART about your indulgences. Of course, that got me thinking about what kinds of dessert items I eat since having switched my dietary habits. Yinz ready for another YouTube video? OF COURSE YOU ARE!
Check out my Primal Coconut Pudding recipie below in this video! ENJOY!
Mmmm….you know you want some. Don’t kid yourself ! 😉
Well friends, that’s a wrap on this blog post. Be sure to stop by soon for my review on Beyond Organic products SueroViv Gold and SueroViv Green. I am becoming a fan of those drinks. I must say, I am truly impressed with them! Until next time, east smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Love Always,
