I am happy to announce that our team here at Primal Fitness Pittsburgh is growing even more this year! It’s been an honor and great joy for me to not only have trained some truly incredible athletes over the pat two years, but it’s an even greater honor and joy to have those incredible clients come on board as instructors here at our facility! Today, I want to shine the spotlight on a seriously strong and seriously committed kettlebell enthusiast who will begin teaching at Primal Fitness Pittsburgh beginning in February. This time, I’m handing over the Microphone to Daniel Byrnes, a level 1 certified kettlebell instructor through Steve Maxwell, and soon to be SFG 1. Dan, take it away!
“I am a former CrossFitter and Systema practitioner (the Russian Martial Art) and my introduction to kettlebells happened during a number of very timely coincidences. I was scheduled for a 2 month business trip to Pittsburgh, and so, as all traveling CrossFitters do, I began searching for CrossFit gyms in the area to stay active. After finding only disappointing results, I decided to take a quick break and lookup a workout technique question I had been putting off for a while: What’s the difference between the American kettlebell swing and the Russian swing?
Google returned 19,100,000 hits. The third search result down was one of many articles entitled “The ‘American’ vs ‘Russian’ Kettlebell Swing”, but the domain name caught his eye: Primal Fitness Pittsburgh. It was as if Google had just given me a sign — an answer to a question and a place to train in the very city I was headed to all in one. I decided to give Janelle a call to setup an evaluation, and the rest it history. And, in case you’re wondering, the Russian swing is the only swing.
Hooked on all things kettlebells, and searching to fulfill and long term interest in teaching, I decided to combine my interests and get myself certified as a Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor through Steve Maxwell (maxwellsc.com) — who is a world renown fitness expert and one of the founders of Dragon Door. More importantly, I have decided to continue my personal and professional training under Janelle, and my hopes are to complete the Beast Challenge and my Strong First Level 1 Kettlebell certification sometime in 2016. I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm for swinging that big cannonball-with-a-handle to class every day until you’re hooked as well. I am beyond excited to get started here at Primal Fitness Pittsburgh! ”
This week, Dan will be in and out of the studio shadowing me and will be teaching his first course under my watch. If you are at Primal Fitness Pittsburgh this week and see him standing next to me a lot, that’s why 😉 Please give him a warm welcome and be on the look out for some unique programming on his part. Until next time. . .
