For those of you who follow my twitter feed and/or are friends with me on facebook, you were probably waiting in agonizing suspense for my blog post featuring a certain awesome fitness badass who I was fortunate enough to meet while being in Florida. Fear not people of primalburgher.com! The day has finally come! Welcome to the most intense blog post yet from your favorite Burgher!
Now, this is a particularly scary blog post. It is scary for a number of reasons. Reason #1) The video posted below features the scary strong RKC level II certified trainer, Adrienne Harvey, demonstrating some hardcore pistol squats and Beast swings (if you don’t know what a pistol squat or a Beast swing is yet, prepare to be FREAKED OUT). Reason #2) The video posted below features my scary attempted and failed Beast swing. I almost got it, but not quite. The good news is that I was able to dead lift the bugger, and I will gladly accept that feat as an accomplishment for myself. Do you understand just how scary this video is in this blog post? Good, because yinz ain’t seen nothing yet!
Before I unleash this epic video, I want to give you all a word of caution before you view it. What you are going to see in this video is very advanced kettlebell work demonstrated by the elite trainer, RCK II Adrienne Harvey. Adrienne has been training for years now and has mastered the skills necessary to handle 16 kg pistol squats (which translates to 35 pounds) and 48 kg two arm swings (that’s 106 pounds). Yeah, she’s a badass but please understand that this kind of strength is a skill that takes years to develop. Please, DO NOT TRY ANY OF THIS AT HOME! Let me repeat myself. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
One last thing about this video. While I did fail my first Beast Swing, I was fortunate enough to have RKC II Adrienne Harvey give me feedback on how to tackle the Beast Swings in the future. She also gave me pointers on how to practice my form for these heavy swings until I am strong enough to do them properly. There is a lot of solid teaching material packed in this video. If you are training with kettlebells, I highly suggest grabbing a pen and notepad and jotting down some notes while viewing this video.
Drum roll please….
Let the Battle against The Beast COMMENCE!

Did you freak out? TOLD YA YOU WOULD!
While I am still a bit bummed that I was unable to handle my first Beast Swing, this was most certainly a great learning experience for me. You can bet your primal butts that I will be practicing my form and developing my strength even more now so I can tackle this challenge in the future. Again, PLEASE DO NOT TRY ANY OF THIS AT HOME unless you are standing next to a certified trainer yourself. And that’s real talk, ya heard?
That’s it for today’s blog post! Remember to always eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Love Always,
Janelle
Special thanks to RKC II Adrienne Harvey of giryagirl.com who was willing enough to shoot this video with me and train with me while in Florida. It was an experience of a lifetime. Thank you so much!
