Happy Monday to Yinz! ๐
I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to kick start this week off on the right paleo foot! Over the weekend I was able to spend some time catching up with some old friends of mine. The meet ups inspired a lot of heart felt conversations and not to mention, a TON of primal eating. Today, I wanted to spend some time talking about ย a new primal find in Pittsburgh as well as how this hot dog hot spot lead me to get creative with some tasty eats from Beyond Organic. Get excited! Yinz ain’t seen nothing yet!
First, let’s talk about Franktuary. Franktuary is a local restaurant that is known for its
grassfed franks and local sausage dishes. You can also build your own hot dog/sausage in any style you like, and Franktuary is also known for it’s delectable grass fed beef chili. If you are looking for a fun, laid back, and truly unique paleo eatery, Franktuary is simply a stop you must make! Check out their menu here and see what I ordered myself !
The above photo features the grass fed underdog in a romaine boat, smothered with grass fed chili and coleslaw (this is the “southern belle” style on the menu. Might I add, it’s DELICIOUS!). As you can see, this place offers gluten free options for it’s customers living a serious paleo lifestyle, and that makes this Burgher very happy!
While spending some time writing this weekend I got to thinking about the awesome paleo food I found at Franktuary, and realized that I had some of my own grass fed sausage left over from Beyond Organic.ย After a sizeable workout that completely revved up my metabolism, I decided to make a mini-meat snack plate using the grass fed summer sausage that is now available for preferred customers. Left over cherries, sausage, and a healthy serving of almonds lead me to arguably the most satisfying paleo snack plate yet! ย And as you can see by the picture featured to the left, this is the kind of eats that make a hard workout all worth it ๐
If you are visiting Pittsburgh, please be sure to check out Franktuary located Downtown and in Lawrencville. Should you not be able to make it to the Burgh, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you sign up for a preferred membership with Beyond Organic so you can build your own snack plate with Beyond Organic’s grassfed summer sausage. You will thank me for this later! I can guarantee it!
That’s all I have for you all today! Remember to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Oh…and visit Pittsburgh while you’re at it ๐
Love Always,
Janelle Pica, RKC
