It’s the first day of Spring, and I couldn’t be happier about kicking things off into this brand new season! Over the weekend, I spent a ton of time with friends back in my hometown of Greensburg, talking shop on all things related to starting new seasons in life. Last week I made mention of having overcome some tough obstacles in my life, and how saying difficult things can start the process to heal and become stronger than we thought possible.
Next step, get up and start moving!
There is something I find quite symbolic about the Turkish Get Up, the main focus of our VIP monthly program kicking off in April (stay tuned! Wednesdays the program will be released and you will NOT want to miss out on that). The Turkish Get UP is a lift that starts on the ground, and you have to move slowly in a controlled fashion to get up to the overhead lock out position, and to descend back down. You have to master the weight of the resistance, not let the resistance take control of you.
That’s just like life. In life, it can seem like we are being weighed down by the weight of too many responsibilities, or the demands of our own lives as we work, train, tend to those we love, you name it. The most important thing we can do when dealing with the heavier weights in life is to get up, move slowly through each step we take and rise up strong. We are to control, if not master the very weights we are handed each day and rise to the top, not letting the resistance of those heavier things in life weigh us down.

I’m keeping this post short today, but I will leave you with a song that has deeply resonated with me, and just so happens to be titled “Get Up”. On Friday of last week, I gave a big Rock and Roll HOLLA on my facebook page . If you are NOT familiar with the band Dorothy, please check them out here! Dorothy’s song “Get Up” is all about recognizing that we can rise above anything life throws at us so long as we stand for the dreams we believe in. My favorite lyrics from this song clearly state the nature of what it means to be strong on the inside all the more!
Blood moon rising, glory rolls
Got no money, Heaven knows
Keep believin’ they will come
They will come
So get up! Get on up!
Get up! Get on up!
Stay on the dream, oh the dream!
Man on fire, soul survivor, yeah
Stay on your dreams! Get up, and rise into a new season of strength!
