After playing around with some meal items, smoothie recipes, and trying to solidify my own post workout eating routine, I came up with my signature “starch shake”. While this may sound a little odd to some of you, I absolutely SWEAR by this. Combining sweet potatoes with bananas and adding some grass-fed whey is a great way to get nutrients in you when you’re on the go, when you just finished a hard workout, or if you are looking for some serious muscle gains. I have outlined the recipe below for myself, as a 5’3” female. Men, I recommend using 1 full cup of sweet potato and 1 full banana in comparison to the recipe below. Get ready to suck this down!
The Starch Shake
1/2 cup mashed sweet potato
1/2 banana
1 tbs cocoa powder
1-2 scoops grass fed whey protein
1 cup almond milk
ice
1-2tsp honey (optional)
Blend the above ingredients in a blender and take suck down the results below.
This actually comes out as thick as a milkshake, which significantly adds to the “food porn factor” ;). Have at it lovelies! Satisfaction is guaranteed! No really, this is must have staple for hard training. Enough said! 😀
