It’s a good ol’ swing day indeed!
I have been receiving a lot of questions lately about proper progression to the kettlebell swing. While the swing looks like a simple and otherwise easy move, mastering the swing actually has more technique to it than you may think. So, today we’re going to focus on some basic strategies you can use to master your swing technique.
We will begin with deadlifts and wall taps. Stay with me here. This will all make sense in a moment!
While the kettlebell deadlift can have you lifting heavier than you once though possible, it is imperative to have good form in your deadlift in order to progress to the swing. So, mastering the deadlift will help you master the swing. The other drill that will help you master your swing are wall taps. In short, you want to tap your butt up against a wall to have your body learn the technique behind getting your body in the proper starting positing for the kettlebell swing.
I realize this may sound a bit confusing…so to make for a better explanation, check out my video below that combines the use of deadlifts and wall sits to show the progression to the swing.
Ahh…it all makes sense now, right? GREAT!
Over time, you should notice that your swing will improve by incorporating these basic movements into your beginner routine. So…happy lifting, happy swinging, happy YOU!
That’s all I have for yinz today! Remember to eat smart, train hard, and enjoy your life!
Love Always,
