I found myself sitting in the pews of Saint Peter’s Parish on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. It has been a long time since I had found myself in a Church, and I blame that mostly on the complete upheaval and restructuring of my own business. Life is so much better now that all that chaos has settled, but the entire event was a true test of my own patience, endurance, and above all else. . faith. The sermon I sat in on on Sunday would bring the very concepts I have been discussing on this blog to full circle. Today, I’m going to talk to you about how being present and making your fitness goals present in your every day life will lead to your healthy success.
But first, back to the pinnacle point of one of the best sermons I have heard yet at Saint Peter’s Parish.
“Make the changes you need to make now. Today will soon be yesterday, and tomorrow may never come. Live your life now, in this moment, and cherish the day.”
-Father Vincent Zidek
To place this in the context of the sermon, Father Vincent had brought to light the role of our individual faith and how we have an active part in making choices TODAY to better our lives. The sermon was centered on the current state of our world, and how we can become distracted by the chaos of the very world we live in. Jesus himself gave us advice as to how we can respond to such frightening times, and he also lays out how to live presently as best as we can.
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6: 31-34
